Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Janet Muhling. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Janet completed her B.Sc (Hons) at the University of Western Australia in 1972, focusing on a research project concerning the genesis of banded iron formations and nickel sulfide mineralization at Mt Windarra, Western Australia. Following four years in the industry with the Geological Survey of Western Australia, she returned to UWA to undertake post-graduate studies examining high-grade metamorphic rocks in the Narryer Terrane of the northern Yilgarn Craton. Janet possesses extensive experience in electron probe microanalysis. This expertise was acquired during her PhD project, which subsequently led to a post-doctoral fellowship at the Electron Microscopy Centre (now known as the Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation and Analysis). She returned to consulting within the mineral exploration industry in 1991, rejoining UWA as a Research Associate at the CMCA until her retirement in 2016. Since 2016, she has served as an Adjunct Research Fellow in the School of Earth Sciences. Janet's research primarily revolves around banded iron formations, oxygen and marine chemistry, geochemistry, geochronology, and accessory minerals within metamorphic rocks, as well as extraterrestrial samples. Her specific interests include geochronology concerning Proterozoic orogenic belts within the West Australian Craton and manganese mineralization.
Requirements are standardized across the Graduate School for most Master by Coursework programs at UWA.
