Biography

Janet Newman is an Adjunct Professor at the University of New South Wales in the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Science. She earned her Bachelor of Science with Honors from the University of Sydney and obtained her PhD from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences under the supervision of Carl-Ivar Brändén. Following her postdoctoral training in biotechnology, Janet returned to Australia to establish the Collaborative Crystallisation Centre (C3) at CSIRO in Melbourne. She specializes in structural biology, focusing on developing automation technologies and designing innovative crystallisation screens. Janet has also created software tools to facilitate these processes. In addition to her research, she serves as a guest lecturer in international training courses and holds editorial positions as a Section Editor for Acta Crystallographica Section F and co-editor for Acta Crystallographica D. Furthermore, she is actively engaged in organizing the Cold Spring Harbor Course in Diffraction Methods in Structural Biology.
