Biography

Janet Yamada is an Associate Professor at the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing at Toronto Metropolitan University. She completed her PhD in Nursing Science at the University of Toronto and a post-doctoral fellowship in knowledge translation and implementation science methods at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. Her research focuses on theory-informed strategies to improve health care professionals' practices through quantitative research methods and systematic reviews. Dr. Yamada teaches courses on Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods, Nursing Research, and Research Design. Her research interests include health care professional behavior change, implementation science, pediatric health conditions, and symptom management. She has received funding for various projects, including transitions of care for older adults and innovations in asthma self-management. Dr. Yamada has also been awarded several honors, including the Dean's Scholarly, Research Creative Activity Award and distinctions from Sigma Theta Tau International for her outstanding PhD thesis.
