Dr. Janette Webb

Biography

Janette Webb is a Professor of Sociology of Organisations at the University of Edinburgh's School of Social and Political Science. She specializes in social studies of energy and climate change, focusing on integrated local and regional energy systems. Her research themes include cities, energy efficiency governance, and comparative studies in European heat decarbonization. Janette has contributed significantly to the evaluation of the Energy Efficient Scotland Pilot Programme, informing the UK's Industrial Strategy Challenge and the draft Scottish Government Energy Strategy Transition Plan. She is actively involved in various advisory groups and has served on the Scottish Science Advisory Council. As a co-director at the UK Energy Research Centre, she leads multidisciplinary research initiatives. Janette has delivered keynote addresses and presentations at prominent events, including discussions on civil society action for clean energy. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Hull and a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Nottingham.
