Dr. Jani Mccutcheon

Biography

Jani McCutcheon is a professor at the University of Western Australia, where she has been since 1999. She holds a BA and LLB from Monash University, as well as an LLM from the University of Western Australia. Her research focuses on intellectual property law, particularly copyright and moral rights, and she is noted for her work in the context of literature and visual arts. McCutcheon has written extensively on literary characters and intellectual property law, and her recent publications include 'Literary Characters Intellectual Property Law' (2023). She has served in various academic roles, including as the Deputy Head of School and Director of the Business Law Major, while also being actively engaged in teaching intellectual property and business law at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels. McCutcheon has participated as a visiting scholar at prestigious institutions, including Berkeley Law School and Sciences Po in Paris. Her contributions to the field of law have been recognized through numerous grants and speaking engagements at conferences globally.
