Dr. Janice Hernandez

Biography

Janice F. Hernandez is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, where she serves as the Division Chair of The Holistic Adult Health Division and directs the MSN Program – Leadership in Diverse Settings (LeaDs). With degrees including an Associate Degree in Nursing from Austin Community College and both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses. Dr. Hernandez focuses on recruitment, development, coaching, and retention of nursing faculty to foster an environment conducive to growth and success. She collaborates with graduate students and community networks to implement innovative quality improvement projects. Dr. Hernandez is the academic co-sponsor of the Hispanic Nursing Student Association and has held leadership roles in promoting nursing education. Her previous experience includes founding a home-health agency, which reflects her commitment to caregivers and healthcare. She has developed educational tools for caregivers and actively promotes culturally competent nursing. Dr. Hernandez's leadership fosters innovation and excellence in nursing education, driving students to achieve their goals and maintain a work/life balance.
