Biography

Janie Goldstein holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is currently a contract lecturer at Toronto Metropolitan University, teaching courses in Family Business and Small Business. Janie has played a significant role in launching the Family Business Institute at the Ted Rogers School of Management, where she serves as a Special Advisor and was the Interim Executive Director. As an independent consultant, she advises both family and non-family businesses and has been involved with her family's business. Janie co-founded and serves as Treasurer of the Upside Foundation of Canada, which promotes philanthropic efforts among Canadian startups. She has received multiple awards, including the Canada 150 Exemplary Canadian Award and the Harvard Business School Alumna “Making a Difference” recognition. Prior to academia, she gained experience as a business strategy consultant and held various marketing roles in the life sciences venture capital sector.
