Biography

Janis Stirna is a Professor and Unit Head at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) at Stockholm University. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Systems Sciences from the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, in 2001, and later became an Associate Professor at Jönköping University in 2008. In 2015, he was promoted to full professor at DSV, where he teaches Object Oriented System Analysis and UML in BSc study programs. His research interests encompass enterprise modeling, requirements engineering, methods and tools, organizational patterns, and knowledge management practices. With over 100 research reports and publications, Stirna has also co-developed numerous frameworks including Enterprise Knowledge Patterns and Enterprise Knowledge Development. He has participated in fourteen EU-financed research projects and currently chairs the IFIP Working Group 8.1, which focuses on Design Evaluation of Information Systems. Moreover, he is a co-coordinator of the FP7 project “Capability as a Service” (CaaS), which aims to develop method and tool design for context-dependent business services. He has co-authored several books on enterprise modeling and management.
