Dr. Janne Cleveland

Biography

Janne Cleveland is an Associate Professor in the Teaching Stream at the Department of English Language and Literature, Carleton University, where she specializes in contemporary drama performance, theatre history, and critical and psychoanalytic theory. Her academic pursuits include examining the intersections of performance and personal trauma within the context of contemporary sociopolitical landscapes, particularly in light of climate change and post-9/11 apprehensions. Notably, she directed several notable productions including 'Good Grief!' and 'Fateful Meeting Les Femmes Fatales,' showcasing her commitment to innovative theatrical projects. Cleveland's research critically engages with the innovative collaboration of theatre and dance, exemplified by her work on the production 'Betroffenheit.'
