Biography

Janneke Berecki-Gisolf is an Associate Professor at the Monash University Accident Research Centre and the Director of the Victorian Injury Surveillance Unit. She studied Medicine at the University of Amsterdam, where she completed her PhD (cum laude). With over ten years of experience in the field of injury research, her focus has been on injury outcomes and injury epidemiology. Janneke has designed and conducted several data linkage studies that incorporate multiple data sources, including injury compensation claims, Medicare, Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme records, hospital admissions, and Emergency Department presentations. Her research interests cover injury surveillance, injury data quality, comorbidity and chronic diseases, data linkage studies, and pharmacoepidemiology. Currently, she contributes to research activities at the Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health (MonCOEH) and engages with the UN Sustainable Development Goals established in 2015, which aim to end poverty and protect the planet while ensuring prosperity for all individuals.
