Biography

Janneke van Dis is an Associate Professor in the Theoretical Philosophy group at Utrecht University. She studied physics and obtained her PhD in 2001, focusing on philosophy and statistical physics. Since 2002, she has been a part of the Theoretical Philosophy group, where she teaches subjects such as epistemology, the philosophy of science, and the philosophy of artificial intelligence. She has also served as the program coordinator for the bachelor's program in Artificial Intelligence. As of September 2021, she is the director of studies for the School of Liberal Arts, overseeing BA programs in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Language and Culture Studies, Artificial Intelligence, Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Her current research interests include epistemology and the philosophy of artificial intelligence.
