Biography

Janos Peti-Peterdi is a Professor in the Department of Physiology and Neuroscience at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He serves as the Director of the Vito M. Campese MD/UKRO Kidney Research Center and has been an active member of the faculty since 2004 after receiving tenure in 2007. Dr. Peti-Peterdi received his MD and PhD from Semmelweis University Medical School in Budapest, Hungary. His postdoctoral training was in renal physiology/nephrology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His research focuses on chronic kidney disease and the mechanisms by which healthy kidneys maintain fluid and electrolyte balance. He has pioneered the use of intravital multiphoton microscopy to visualize kidney function in living animals and to examine the dynamics of renal tissues, including pathologies like acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. His lab aims to develop new therapeutic approaches targeting molecular mechanisms involved in kidney repair and regeneration.
