Biography

Jaquelin P. Dudley is a Professor and Associate Director at the LaMontagne Center for Infectious Disease at The University of Texas at Austin. His academic journey began with graduate studies under the supervision of Dr. Janet Butel at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by postdoctoral research with Nobel laureate Harold Varmus at the University of California, San Francisco. Over his career, Dudley has been recognized for his research on the Mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) and its role in the induction of mammary carcinomas and T-cell lymphomas in mice. His lab has made significant discoveries related to viral proteins, including a novel protein called Rem that is involved in the nuclear export of viral mRNAs. Dudley's work has implications for understanding retroviral pathogenesis and developing gene therapy vectors for breast cancer. He has been actively involved in editorial boards for various journals and has received multiple awards for his contributions to microbiology and virology.
