Jared Holley is a political theorist and historian of political thought, primarily focused on modern ideas of freedom, domination, and the global intellectual histories that inform contemporary practices of resistance. He is the Co-Director of the Centre for Ethics and Critical Thought (CRITIQUE) and is currently engaged in writing on the history, theory, and practice of anticolonial solidarity. His recent work is grounded in global histories of anticolonial political thought and engages with current theoretical debates surrounding solidarity in the global North and South. Holley's forthcoming book, 'Rousseau’s Politics of Taste,' is set to be published by Edinburgh University Press in 2024. He supervises PhD students on topics that span the history of political thought, with a particular interest in projects that focus on the Western/European tradition while engaging with non-Western and world philosophies. In the academic year 2024-25, he will be teaching courses on Political Thinkers and the Histories and Theories of Solidarity, and he regularly teaches about Anticolonial Political Thought.
