Dr. Jared Leadbetter

Biography

Professor Leadbetter's research seeks to clarify the form, function, and spatial distribution of diverse microbes in the environment. Past studies have focused on the cultivation of microbial strains possessing unusual, atypical, and previously unrecognized properties, aiming to reveal the impact of organisms in given environments. He has applied a number of physiological, chemical, molecular, and genetic techniques to his studies, underscoring the utility of classical and newly developed methods in pursuit of fundamental questions in Environmental Microbiology.
