Jared Whear is a political ecologist and human geographer whose work is situated at the nexus of environmental governance, sustainability, and legal geography. He received his PhD in Geography from Syracuse University in 2023. His current project explores the contestation surrounding the creation of large-scale logistics sites in North America, examining corporate claims of sustainability and the environmental labor movements that arise in resistance to logistics infrastructure. In addition, his scholarship focuses on water policy and environmental conflict in water-scarce locations. In his research and teaching, he is guided by questions that surround environmental justice, sustainability, and law, as well as how grassroots social movements coalesce to shape environmental conflict and policy.
