Biography

Jarvis C. McInnis is an Associate Professor in the Department of English, with a focus on African American and African Diaspora literature and culture. He holds a BA in English from Tougaloo College and a Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University. His interdisciplinary research interests include sound studies, performance studies, visual culture, and the global South, particularly the South Caribbean. He is actively engaged in artistic performances that honor significant figures in African American literature.
