Biography

Jasmin Lalonde is a professor in the College of Biological Science at the University of Guelph, where she leads the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience. Her academic journey began at the University of Ottawa, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts. She then earned her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from McGill University, focusing on visual psychophysics and molecular activity in the visual cortex. Her research addresses the morphogenesis of neuronal cells, neuroplasticity, and the underlying causes of brain disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, utilizing a multidisciplinary methodology that includes genetic perturbations and patient-derived models. She has received numerous funding grants for her lab, including from NSERC and the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation, and has established collaborations with prestigious research institutions during her career.
