Biography

Jasmina Besirevic Regan is an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education at Yale College and an Associate Dean of Graduate Education at the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She is also a lecturer in the Department of Sociology. Her academic training is in sociology, with a specific focus on genocide. Her teaching and research interests encompass topics such as ethnic conflict, identity, nationalism, human rights, and refugee resettlement. Regan earned a B.A. in Sociology from Augsburg College and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Yale University. Her dissertation focused on ethnic cleansing in the Bosnian city of Banja Luka and examines the emergence of the Bosnian Muslim refugee community. She has presented numerous papers on sociology and genocide at professional meetings and has been an invited speaker at international conferences both at Yale and abroad. Prior to joining the Graduate School academic affairs team, she served as the Dean of Trumbull College, one of the fourteen residential colleges at Yale, for twelve years.
