Jason Bini earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the City College of New York, City University of New York in 2015. His dissertation focused on the validation improvement of quantitative PET atherosclerotic plaque metabolic activity using novel simultaneous PET/MR systems. Currently, he uses PET imaging to investigate the mechanisms of disease, receptor/enzyme pharmacology, and metabolic diseases, including diabetes and obesity. His current projects include studying PET imaging of dopamine in the pancreas for type 1 and type 2 diabetes and researching the whole-body distribution of cortisol while activating the enzyme 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1. He is also involved in method development for image reconstruction and attenuation scatter correction in whole-body kinetic modeling using novel PET radioligands in clinical and preclinical studies.
