Biography

Prior to joining Purdue, Harris was an Associate Professor and Co-Chair of the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Health Physics at Idaho State University as well as the Associate Director of the Center for Advanced Energy Studies. His research interests encompass environmental reactor health physics, radiation detection measurement, and nuclear security. He has graduated over 25 MS and PhD students and has served on research committees for more than 70 students in health physics, nuclear engineering, and physics. Harris has authored or co-authored 70 peer-reviewed publications and has delivered over 100 conference presentations and invited talks. He has successfully secured $10 million in competitive external grants and contracts from federal funding agencies, international organizations, and private foundations. His professional contributions have earned him recognition within the Health Physics Society and the American Nuclear Society. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Harris is involved in various professional affiliations and serves in leadership roles in organizations dedicated to the advancement of nuclear science and education.
