Dr. Jason Haslam

Biography

Jason Haslam is the McCulloch Professor of English at Dalhousie University, where he has made significant contributions in the field of 19th-century American Literature. His research intersects various domains, including Science Fiction, Gender Studies, and Race Studies, with a specific focus on genres like Gothic literature and popular culture. With a rich academic background, including BA and MA from McGill and a PhD from Waterloo, Haslam has developed and taught undergraduate and graduate courses covering a range of topics, from the Beat Generation to prison studies and American gothic. He has published extensively, co-editing notable works such as the 'Cambridge Companion to Weird Literature' and the 'Broadview Anthology of Science Fiction'. He is actively involved in the academic community as a co-president of the International Gothic Association and has held leadership roles in professional organizations such as the Association for Canadian College and University Teachers of English. Curently, he is exploring themes like gothic representations and energy cultures in his scholarship.
