Dr. Jason Hong

Biography

Jason Hong is a Professor at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute of Carnegie Mellon University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 2005 and holds dual B.S. degrees in Discrete Mathematics and Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, both awarded in 1997. His research focuses on utilizing rich sensor data to improve user experiences and enhance lives by making technology more intuitive and responsive to user needs. He has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field through various awards, including being named a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery, an honor that highlights his exceptional work and service to the computing community. His research interests encompass human-computer interaction, privacy in data collection, and implications of technology on everyday life. He has contributed to several initiatives aimed at developing more secure and user-friendly digital environments, particularly in terms of protecting sensitive personal data. He is actively involved in educating the next generation of computer scientists through his teaching and mentoring efforts at CMU.
