Dr. Jason Howard

Biography

Dr. Jason Howard is a Royal College and American Board-certified academic Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. He practiced at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, for six years, where he served as the Director of Orthopedic Research. Prior to joining Nemours in 2019, Dr. Howard spent over five years as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Sidra Medicine in Doha, Qatar, collaborating with Weill Cornell Medical College. His medical training was completed at Memorial University in 1998, followed by residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Calgary in 2003. He undertook fellowship training at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne and in Pediatric Spine Surgery at Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. Dr. Howard became a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2003 and was certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 2022. In 2017, he completed a sabbatical at Inselspital, Bern, Switzerland, focusing on Pediatric Hip Preservation. Dr. Howard also holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Memorial University and graduate studies in Biodesign from Stanford University. He is an active member of several professional societies and his clinical interests include cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophies, spinal muscular atrophy, and neuromuscular conditions. He has made significant contributions to the field through his research, particularly focused on muscle basic science and epidemiological studies in neuromuscular disorders. He co-edited a successful textbook titled 'The Pediatric Adolescent Hip: Essentials Evidence' in 2019.
