Biography

Jason Huntley holds dual positions as Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development at Texas A&M College of Medicine and as a Professor in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis & Immunology. In his role as Senior Associate Dean, he is responsible for mentoring and supervising staff in the College of Medicine's Office of Faculty Affairs and the Office of Professional Development. His responsibilities include developing and implementing policy changes and guidelines, overseeing faculty searches, and managing promotion and tenure reviews. Huntley has 14 years of experience at Texas A&M, previously serving as a tenured professor in microbiology at the University of Toledo where he was also Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Development. He earned his B.S. in Biology and his Master of Science in Veterinary Microbiology from Iowa State University, where he also received his Ph.D. in Veterinary Pathology. Additionally, he completed an Infectious Disease Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. His research interests include host-pathogen interactions, vector transmission of pathogens, and development of therapeutics for tularemia. He is involved in research that uses naturally occurring bacteria to degrade harmful cyanobacterial toxins in water supplies.
