Biography

Jason Lee ('07) is a lecturer in finance and entrepreneurship at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He has over 25 years of professional experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and strategy consulting, having co-founded several entrepreneurial ventures. His teaching focuses on finance, entrepreneurship, private equity, and impact investing. On campus, Lee is the managing partner of Element, a strategic advisor and investor in companies in energy-related industries. Previously, he was a managing director and portfolio manager at Power Opportunities Group at Oaktree Capital Management, where he focused on private equity investments in the energy industry and led numerous investments in renewable energy, efficiency, utility infrastructure, and technology services sectors. Before his role at Oaktree, Lee was the founding managing partner of Ascend, a venture consulting incubation company, and co-founder of Intersphere, a business services company. Lee also served as director of international business development and strategy at Youbet.com and as CFO for Amerix Group. He started his professional career in the investment banking group at JP Morgan, focusing on M&A and corporate finance transactions across various sectors. Lee has consulted for the government of South Korea on globalization strategies and written publications about the Korean media and entertainment industry.
