Jason Love is a Professor of Molecular Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh and Head of the School of Chemistry. His primary research interests are focused on the recovery and recycling of valuable critical metals, using in-depth chemical understanding to deliver new technologies and processes. His research efforts are supported by UKRI industry funding, and he has published 162 peer-reviewed articles and patents. He has also delivered 90 international, national, and public invited lectures, including a talk titled 'Mining Scrapheap' at New Scientist Live in 2018. In 2020, he was a winner of the Ekeberg Prize for his work on tantalum recycling. His research covers metal recovery and recycling, the chemistry of f-elements, catalysis, and sustainable chemistry. The Love group conducts both fundamental and applied research in coordination and supramolecular chemistry, providing insights into the impact of inorganic chemistry. This includes studying the underlying chemistry of metal extraction and recycling processes, as well as the design and synthesis of molecular metal complexes that promote new sustainable chemical reactivity as metal compounds interact with substrates.
