Jason M Peters is an Associate Professor in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on bacterial genetics, particularly addressing critical issues related to bioeconomy and antimicrobial resistance. Using CRISPR-based functional genomics approaches, he defines the roles of gene networks involved in processes where microbes convert plant material into valuable biofuels and bioproducts, as well as targeting antibiotic resistance. Currently, he is developing innovative CRISPR tools for exploring gene function in bioenergy-relevant alpha-Proteobacteria, such as Zymomonas mobilis and antibiotic-resistant ESKAPE pathogens like Acinetobacter baumannii. He is also involved in various committees, including the School of Pharmacy Assessment Committee and the Microbiology Doctoral Training Program Steering Committee.
