Biography

Z. Jason Ren is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Princeton University, where he also serves as the Associate Director of Research at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment. Prof. Ren's research primarily focuses on the Water-Energy-Climate Nexus, including areas such as decarbonization, digitalization, environmental chemical processes, water CO2 electrolysis, wastewater treatment and reuse, water desalination, remediation, and carbon capture and utilization. His lab integrates techniques from electrochemistry, microbiology, and artificial intelligence to enhance the design and operation of systems. Prof. Ren has collaborated with colleagues across various disciplines and has received funding from federal and state agencies as well as private sponsors. With over 200 published papers in prestigious journals such as Nature Sustainability and Science Advances, he has significantly contributed to the field. He is also an entrepreneur, having co-founded two companies that help translate research findings into real-world applications.
