Biography

Jason Sharman is the Sir Patrick Sheehy Professor of International Relations at the University of Cambridge's Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS). He received his PhD in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1999 and holds an undergraduate degree in history and politics from the University of Western Australia. In addition to his role at Cambridge, Sharman has previously worked at American University Bulgaria, the University of Sydney, and Griffith University, with shorter assignments as a visitor at St. Petersburg State University, Columbia University, and the London School of Economics. His research interests are primarily divided into two main streams: global regulation concerning money laundering, corruption, and tax havens, and the international relations within the early modern world regarding the historical evolution of the international system. Apart from academic research, Sharman also has experience as a consultant for various organizations, including the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the Financial Action Task Force, working with a range of private sector groups.
