Biography

Jason Southan is a seasoned professional in the civil engineering and construction sectors, leveraging 30 years of experience in the industry. He currently serves as a Programme Leader in Quantity Surveying at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). His expertise lies in various roles within quantity surveying and project management, including positions as a developer quantity surveyor, main contractor quantity surveyor, commercial manager, and commercial director. Jason is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB) and a member of both the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (MCInstCES) and the Higher Education Academy. His specializations encompass quantitative skills in measurement, project cost planning, advice on procurement, and contract selection. Additionally, Jason is involved in teaching and learning, contributing significantly to the academic environment. He is passionate about sharing his extensive knowledge of building measurement techniques such as SMM7, NRM2, CESMM4, MMHW, and POMI with students and fellow professionals.
