Dr. Jason Yackee

Biography

Professor Yackee is the Foley & Lardner-Bascom Professor of Law at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on international investment law, international economic relations, foreign arbitration, and administrative law politics. He teaches courses such as Contracts, Public International Law, International Investment Law, International Arbitration, and International Business Transactions. Yackee graduated summa cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Pittsburgh before earning his M.A. and Ph.D. in political science with a focus on International Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also holds a J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where he served as an editor for the Duke Law Journal. He studied European law at L'Université Pantheon-Assas in Paris, and was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to conduct research on Thai foreign investment law at Thammasat University in Bangkok. Yackee has published articles in various peer-reviewed social science journals and student-edited law reviews, and his main research agenda is centered on investor-state arbitration in international investment law. He is currently engaged in a major historical project analyzing the French government's diplomatic legal strategies to protect foreign investors in Africa.
