Biography

Javad Alirezaie received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Electronic Engineering from Tehran University in 1988, and his M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Systems Design Engineering, specializing in Biomedical Engineering, from the University of Waterloo in 1993 and 1997, respectively. He served as a postdoctoral fellow at McMaster University and then became an Assistant Professor at Wilfred Laurier and Lakehead universities from 1998 to 2000. In 2001, he joined Toronto Metropolitan University, known previously as Ryerson University, as a Professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer, Biomedical Engineering. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Alirezaie has authored or coauthored 100 research papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings, focusing on a variety of funded research projects. He is an Associate Editor for the Medical Physics journal and a program committee member for CRV and ICIAR conferences. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and a member of IEEE, SPIE, and the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.
