Javier Álvarez-Mon holds degrees in ancient Near Eastern art and archaeology from École du Louvre (Paris) and the University of California at Berkeley. He has been a Fulbright-Hays Fellow and served as a Future Fellow at the Australian Research Council from 2014 to 2018. Currently, he is a Professor of Near Eastern Archaeology and Art at Macquarie University in Australia. He has authored and co-edited more than fifty articles and books, with his recent work focusing on 'Art of Elam ca. 4200-525 BC' published by Routledge in 2020, which has received substantial international recognition.
