Biography

Javier Escudero Rodriguez is a Reader in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. He leads a research group focused on developing and applying signal processing algorithms to biomedical data, aiming to reveal subtle changes in major diseases such as Alzheimer's and epilepsy, which can cause variations in brain activity linked to mental states. In October 2013, he joined the Institute of Digital Communications as Chancellor's Fellow in biomedical signal processing and has since been promoted to Senior Lecturer in August 2016 and to his current position in August 2020. Prior to this, he held a post-doctoral position at the School of Computing and Mathematics at Plymouth University. His training includes an MEng in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Valladolid, Spain, completed in 2005, and a PhD in Biomedical Signal Processing from the same university in 2010. He is also a Senior Member of IEEE and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
