Dr. Javier Yanez Arenas

Biography

Javier Yanez Arenas is a senior lecturer and MBA Director at the University of Glasgow's Adam Smith Business School. With an extensive background in higher education and business consulting, he has served as a faculty member at UniAndes in Bogota, Colombia, where he held various leadership positions including Dean of the School and coordinator of International Affairs. Javier has been involved in accreditation processes and has been elected President of the Executive Board of the Latin American Council of Management Schools (CLADEA). His academic career includes promoting research initiatives, particularly in Services Operations Management, and facilitating international collaborations. He has significant experience in strategy and supply chain management, having worked with organizations such as ECOPETROL and Bogotá’s Mayor Office. Javier holds a PhD in Business Management from the University of Glasgow, and master's and undergraduate degrees in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, respectively. His research interests include service innovation, supply networks, and strategic procurement, all of which are instrumental in his roles in curricular development and program leadership at the university.
