Dr. Jayakanth Philip

Biography

Jayakanth Philip is the Cayley MacDonald Endowed Early Career Chair Professor at the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Southern California. He specializes in the physics and materials science of emerging complex materials, particularly oxides and chalcogenides. His synthetic capabilities extend from bulk ceramic processing to single crystal and thin film growth techniques, along with situ structural and chemical characterization methods. His research focuses on transport measurements, particularly electron transport, across a wide temperature range. He has a keen interest in developing applications in emerging electronic and photonic quantum device technologies, energy conversion systems, and catalytic fuel production. He is also a co-lead scientist at the Core Center of Excellence in Nano Imaging.
