Biography

Jayde Lin Roberts is an interdisciplinary scholar of the built environment with a focus on Asian Urbanism, Critical Heritage Studies, Myanmar, Southeast Asia, and the Chinese diaspora. She has held several esteemed fellowships, including the Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the LSE Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre in 2020, a Fulbright Scholar in Myanmar in 2016, and a Non-resident Fellow at the Australian National University’s China World in 2012. In 2008, she was awarded the Fulbright-Hayes Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship. Currently, she is a board member of the Myanmar Research Centre and the principal investigator for the Southeast Asia Neighborhoods Network. Dr. Roberts combines historical and ethnographic research to understand the dynamics of Asian cities and has published articles on various topics, including the construction of neighborhoods in Mandalay and social infrastructure in Myanmar. Her monograph titled 'Mapping Chinese Rangoon: Place, Nation, Sino-Burmese' further explores these themes.
