Biography

Jayne Huckerby is a Clinical Professor of Law and the inaugural Director of the International Human Rights Clinic at Duke University School of Law. She specializes in fact-finding, research, and advocacy in the areas of gender and human rights, gender and national security, human trafficking, and human rights as they relate to U.S. foreign policy. As a human rights law expert, she collaborates with international, regional, governmental organizations, and NGOs, particularly focusing on gender issues, human rights, national security, and the nexus between trafficking and terrorism. Huckerby has authored and co-authored numerous articles, book chapters, and human rights reports, including an upcoming book edited by Margaret L. Satterthwaite entitled 'Gender, National Security, Counter-Terrorism: Human Rights Perspectives'. Her opinion pieces have appeared in major media outlets such as The New York Times, Newsweek, TIME, ABC News, CNN, and NPR. Originally from Sydney, Australia, she graduated with an LLB from the University of Sydney with class honors and earned her LL.M. from New York University School of Law as a Vanderbilt Scholar, where she was awarded the David H. Moses Memorial Prize and served as the graduate editor of the Journal of International Law and Politics. Huckerby is also admitted to the New York Bar.
