Jayne Parker is an artist and filmmaker whose work has been widely exhibited both nationally and internationally at major art institutions, as well as at television and film music festivals. In 2003, she received the 1871 Fellowship, which focused on the relationship between music and film, hosted by the Ruskin School of Drawing, Oxford, and the San Francisco Art Institute. Her significant works include a trilogy funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council Small Award, which premiered at the BFI 52nd London Film Festival in 2008. In 2011, she presented retrospective films at the BFI Southbank as part of a celebration of American filmmaker Maya Deren. Her DVD compilation, ‘Jayne Parker, British Artists Film,’ was released by the BFI in 2008. Parker’s filmography includes a range of short films showcasing diverse techniques across various media. She has received numerous awards, including a Certificate of Merit at the Chicago International Film Festival in 1995 and the Grand Prize at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival in 1997. Additionally, Parker’s films are part of significant collections, including those of the Arts Council, England and Museion in Bolzano, Italy. Currently, she heads the Graduate Fine Art Media program at UCL’s Slade School of Fine Art and has previously held academic positions at various esteemed institutions.
