JD Handmaker joined the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Hague Campus, Erasmus University Rotterdam in February 2007. He is an affiliate visiting scholar at the School of Law, University of the Witwatersrand, since January 2007, and served as Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the South African Journal of Human Rights. His current research examines potential legal mobilization for progressive structural changes, and he has co-founded a Legal Mobilization Platform that involves collaboration between several universities and societal organizations.
