Jean-Francois Darrigrand obtained a life-science engineering degree from AgroParisTech and completed a Master's degree at the Centre Interdisciplinary Studies, Paris Descartes University. His program enabled him to delve into fields such as cell biology, embryonic development, and quantitative image analysis in laboratories including those of Dr. Bruno Cadot, Dr. Edgar Gomes at the Myology Institute in Paris, Dr. Sharagim Tajbakhsh at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, and Dr. Annemiek Cornelissen at Matière et Systèmes Complexes at Paris Diderot University. During his PhD training in Bruno Cadot’s group from 2015 to 2019, he investigated cell dynamics and developmental signals shaping the pulmonary artery and aorta in mouse embryos. He then joined Pr. Francesca Spagnoli's lab at King’s College London, where he continued to explore organ morphogenesis mechanisms, particularly focusing on pancreas development until 2023. At present, he is part of Pr. Jeremy Green's lab aiming to study the diversity of cellular mechanisms and mechanical regulators that control organ morphogenesis in mammals using a mouse embryonic body wall model. His research seeks to understand facial formation and the regeneration of damaged cells, with a goal to unravel disease causes and enhance patient treatment.
