Biography

Jean-François Gaudreault-DesBiens is the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Université de Montréal and holds the Canada Research Chair in North American and Comparative Juridical and Cultural Identities. He has previously taught at the University of Toronto and McGill University and has served as a visiting professor at several universities in Canada, including Aix-Marseille, Sciences Po, and Case Western. His research specializes in constitutional law, civil liberties, legal theory, and the sociology of legal cultures. Currently, his work focuses on the legal treatment of religious claims in multicultural liberal societies and the relation between civil law and common law traditions in a globalized economy. Gaudreault-DesBiens is a member of the Quebec and Ontario Bars and serves as the Canadian correspondent for the British journal Public Law.
