Biography

Jean-François Masson is currently a full professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Montreal. His research focuses on developing surface chemistry, new plasmonic materials, and instrumentation for the clinical analysis of proteins and drugs. He earned a cooperative Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Sherbrooke in 2001, during which he completed internships in industry. He then obtained a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Arizona State University in 2005, where he researched surface plasmon resonance and surface chemistry. Following this, he pursued postdoctoral training at Georgia Tech, working on clinical sensor studies for ATP secretion from rat carotids in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Hospital. He joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Montreal in 2007. Masson has received numerous awards and scholarships during his training and tenure at the University of Montreal. He has published over 50 papers in analytical and physical chemistry journals and has filed or been granted seven patents relating to instrumentation, surface chemistry, and plasmonic materials.
