Jean-Marie Bouteiller joined the University of Southern California with a Master's in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Montpellier, France. He started his PhD in Computational Neuroscience under Professor Michel Baudry. With a dual competency in Neuroscience and Engineering, he joined in 2002 the laboratory of Professor Theodore W. Berger and began the development of a unique computational synaptic modeling platform. This platform accounts for the multitude of mechanisms that comprise the presynaptic terminal and postsynaptic spine. Over the years, the platform has substantially grown to include mechanisms of modulatory pathways and astrocytic modulation, extending its hierarchical structure to span multiple biological scales, including biomolecular mechanisms at the synapse, neuron, and neuronal network levels.
Requires general GRE for all graduate degrees.
