Biography

Jean-Paul (JP) Tennant teaches the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) 16A/B sequence as well as courses in Robotics, specifically EECS/MecEng 106A/206A. He has also developed a new course entitled Business Finance for Engineers (EE 194-100). Jean-Paul holds a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Berkeley Haas School of Business. He has served in various roles within the Navy's Submarine Force and has experience in finance as a fixed income securities trader at Goldman Sachs. Additionally, he is a co-owner and former CFO and CEO of Geographic Expeditions and a co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Peak 15 Systems. His teaching and research interests focus on systems, controls, robotics, and quantitative startup finance.
