Biography

Jean-Philippe Roy is a veterinary doctor graduated from the University of Montreal in 1999. He practiced mixed private veterinary medicine (large and small animals) from 1999 to 2001 and served as a clinician at the ambulatory bovine clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Montreal from 2001 to 2003. He was an instructor at the clinic from 2003 to 2005. He has held various academic positions at the same institution, including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and since 2016, Full Professor. Roy's research focuses on clinical veterinary medicine with an emphasis on bovine mastitis, including the impacts of Staphylococcus aureus and selective dry cow therapy. He is also a member of the Canadian Mastitis Research Network and engages in research concerning infectious diseases and biosecurity in dairy production. He completed a Master's degree in Veterinary Clinical Sciences in 2005 and became a Diplomate of the European College of Bovine Health Management in 2009. Throughout his career, Roy has managed various research projects aimed at improving mastitis control and addressing antimicrobial resistance in dairy herds.
