Biography

Jean-Pierre Bonin is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Nursing at the Université de Montréal. He is a junior clinician-researcher with the FRQ-Santé. Bonin is currently developing new triage procedures in hospital emergency services, particularly aimed at improving mental health services for suicidal individuals. His research focuses on enhancing the continuity and accessibility of care for vulnerable individuals with mental disorders. His doctoral project evaluated the use and quality of services among homeless individuals with mental disorders in Montreal and Quebec. Additionally, he is involved in projects aimed at assessing the effects of transforming mental health clinics towards a client-centered approach and improving service continuity for individuals with concurrent disorders. Bonin has also worked on developing and evaluating triage tools for emergency services to better prioritize individuals with mental health issues. He has received recognition for his social innovation project concerning the role of families in the mental health system in Quebec, during the 2015 'Bravo à nos chercheurs' ceremony.
