Biography

Jean-Pierre Vaillancourt is a professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Université de Montréal and an expert in biosecurity and infectious disease control strategies in poultry. He directed the Group for Research on the Epidemiology of Zoonoses and Public Health from 2009 to 2016 and served as the deputy director of the Institute for Public Health Research at UdeM. He was awarded the Lamplighter Award from the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association in 2004 for his significant contributions to the American poultry industry. Since 2012, Vaillancourt has been a member of the French Veterinary Academy. His research focuses on the epidemiology of avian zoonoses and public health, exploring the role of agro-environment in zoonotic disease epidemiology and developing decision-support tools for public health. He has been involved in various research projects and has supervised numerous graduate theses related to poultry health and biosecurity adherence.
