Biography

Jean-Yves Chouinard is a retired professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. His teaching and research interests include communication theory and its applications, source and channel coding methods, wireless telecommunications systems, and radar signal processing. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Laval University in Quebec in 1987, following an M.Sc. in 1984 and a B.Sc.A. in 1979, both from the same university. His professional experiences include working as a telecommunications engineer at Northern Telecom in Montreal from 1979 to 1981 and as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Telecommunications Studies Center (CNET) in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, from 1987 to 1988. He served as a professor at the School of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Ottawa from 1988 to 2002 before joining Laval University in 2003. He is a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec and an IEEE life senior member.
